Which of the following activities would you like to do on a weekend afternoon? Doing exercise, watching TV, or spending some time with families.
Sample
I would love to choose to spend time with my families on weekends. First, I usually spend most of my time in the library working on my class assignments and research. I don’t have much time to talk to my parents during week days. It’s not that I don’t want to, it’s just I’m too busy. Also, all of our families love cooking. Weekends provide us with a great opportunity to cook together and catch up with one another. We’d talk about the funny things we ran into at school or work.

Do you agree or disagree with the statement that young people should learn how to draw and paint.
Sample
I strongly agree with the statement that children should learn how to draw an paint. First, painting is relaxing and fun to do. Kids today are under tremendous stress. When I was a kid, I spent the majority of my time reading and studying. I wish I learned how to paint so I had better things to do when I could catch a break. I wish someone had taught me how to use lines, colors and shapes to better express myself. Second, creating art is good for their personality. Sitting down and slowly paint a picture is such a peaceful thing to do.

The student proposes the university should open a snack shop on the campus, which is entirely operated by students because it helps to create more jobs for students and it’s convenient for students to buy food.
The man agrees with it.
First, it helps students to gain experience of running a business.
Second, the café is far away from teaching building. It takes lots of time to buy fast food like coffee and sandwich. What’s more, it also takes at least 15 minutes to drive to the café.

The professor gives an example of leaving cutting ants.
Group1: climb trees and pick up the leaves.
Group2: cut the leaves into small pieces, which is easier for them to transport.
Group3: bring the small leaves back to the nest. According to these they can finish each part independently.

The woman’s problem is that she shared a room with others off campus, but her roommate is too noise, she cannot do her own things. So she is considering to move to another apartment next year.
There are two solutions for her. First is to move back to campus. The university has a requirement to keep quiet and it’s not expensive, but there’s no kitchen, the woman is really into cooking. Second is to find another apartment near campus. It’s convenient because she has a job in library for 24 hours, but she has pressure due to the rent.

The professor talks about two ways how the railroads change the development of US. The first way is to sell to more consumers. For example, railroads transport the goods to other countries. Second way is to build factories in new areas. Railroad can bring to materials in far away areas. For example, coals used in machines can be transported from various areas.
