I have a great desire to visit the Vatican City and that’s a wish I would like to fulfill. Vatican City is a country located within the city of Rome. With an area of 44 hectares and a population about 1,000, it is the smallest state in the world by both area and population.
I first came across this name, Vatican City, when watching a documentary about one of its famous tourist sites called the St. Peter's Basilica some time ago.
Since I now live in China, it would require a visa for me to enter the Vatican City. So I guess the airplane would most likely be my choice of transportation when going there.
To be frank, I do not have any particular plan to take a friend or a family member with me to the Vatican City, but a good companion seems not bad. Someone who takes great interest in history, especially that of the Vatican City, would be a good company for the journey I guess. Right now I can think of my friend Lily as my ideal travel companion in this journey.
I have a great interest in the mysteries and history of the Vatican City. The places, the artworks, the buildings, the archives and so many other interesting historic events of this city successfully turned it into a great attraction to millions of tourists from all over the world, including me. For example, the St. Peter's Basilica that I mentioned earlier. As a work of architecture, it is regarded as the greatest building of its age. St. Peter's is one of the four churches in the world that hold the rank of Major Basilica, all four of which are here in Rome. I’d also like to take some first-hand experiences of the historic events I heard, read and learned about this charming place. The places and monuments of this city were described in lots of book I have read and movies I have watched. I would like to go there to see with my own eyes the greatest works of famous painters, architects and leaders. My interest in the history and art of the Vatican City I guess, is the main reason why I so long to make a travel to this place.
