范文
I transferred to another school for just once when I was a grade three student in primary school. Actually, I was forced by my mom to do so. According to her, I could be receiving better English education in that new school, which thankfully, turned out to be true. But at that time, the least thing I wanted to do, is to leave all my good friends behind and move to that new school. Sadly, I wasn’t the one to make the final call. It took me a lot of efforts to finally make up my mind and go.
I can still remember that scorching morning in September, my parents helped me get enrolled in a private school in the inner suburb of Nanjing. The long distance between my new school and home was not the most stimulating part of the whole story. For a 10-year-old pupil, how to ‘survive’ in a boarding school was the biggest challenge.
However, to tell you the truth, I was extremely excited at hearing the news that I would have to live in school from Monday to Friday every week. No doubt, that meant I could be completely ‘free’ from my parents for most of the time in a week. In the first three days, everything went quite well. All I had to do is to adjust myself to a new environment, making some new friends, getting to know the teachers, and getting everything ready for school. This barely left me any time to think about my parents and old friends. However, on the fourth day of my ‘independent’ campus life, I saw one of my roommates weeping in her bed at night. At that very moment, sadness filled my heart, and I couldn’t help crying out loud, thinking about my parents and old friends. It was at that very night that I first realized how high the cost of good education is. After that, I started to work my butt off, trying to make the best out of the resources provided by my new school.
Even now, when I look back on those days spent in that boarding school, I still feel deeply grateful, because I not only gained knowledge there, but also mastered to be a truly independent and determined person.
