Introduction
Let’s talk about where you live …
•What do you like most about your hometown?
As a historical city that has been established for thousands of years, my hometown is a peaceful place. I definitely love the historical sites and the profound historical background of my hometown. Compared with other cities, although my hometown is not that affluent or beautiful, its cultural charms cannot be easily rivaled by other big cities.
•Is your hometown a popular place for tourists to visit? [Why? / Why not?]
Yes it is. As one of the previous capitals of China, there are quite a lot of historical relics and sites in my hometown, which not only attract Chinese visitors, but also attract people from all over the world. There are even quite a lot of scholars conducting academic research in my hometown.
•Has your hometown changed much in recent years? [Why? / Why not?]
Actually the overall economy of my hometown has improved in recent years. But as I have mentioned, my hometown is a historical city. So the appearance of my hometown has not changed as much as the living standard of my fellow city dwellers. Most of the areas are still occupied by historical sites and cultural institutes.
Writing
Now let’s talk about writing.
•What different types of writing do you do, for example letters, emails, reports or essays?
I usually write emails. As a university student, most of my school assignments are required by email. But the assignments are not limited to forms of reports or essays. So email is the best tool for students to communicate with professors.
•Do you prefer writing with a pen or using a computer? [Why?]
I prefer using a computer. My father once taught computer classes, so he put great emphasis on my practice of typing. I can quickly finish lots of writing through typing, and to tell the truth, my handwriting is not that handsome.
•Do you write more now or less than you did a few years ago? [Why?]
Compared with a few years ago, I actually write more now. In the past, what I had to write was just the homework assigned by teachers. But now, apart from homework, I also have to complete a lot of projects, reports and essays given by teachers, the school and employers of my part-time job. So I have to write more nowadays.
•Do you like to write stories or poems? [Why? / Why not?]
I don’t like to write stories or poems. As for me, only people with great aesthetic appreciation and strong writing skills are able to write stories or poems. And I am also not the type of person who has a great imagination. I prefer reading stories and poems to writing them myself.
Music
Let’s talk about music.
•How often do you listen to music? [Why?]
I listen to music every day. It takes me more than one-and-half-hour commuting every day. In order to kill time and distract myself from the daily routine, I like to listen to music on the road.
•Do you prefer to buy CDs or download music from the Internet? [Why?]
I prefer to download music from the Internet. It is really difficult to find a CD player nowadays and it is quite inconvenient to play those CDs through computer. Downloading music from the Internet just costs limited amount of money and I can store those pieces of music into my mobile phone.
•Have you always liked the same kind of music? [Why? / Why not?]
As a Gemini, my preference in music is quite diverse. I like to listen to rock music in the morning, in order to get reenergized and would like to listen to pop music at noon to relax myself. In the evening, before going to bed, I would also listen to some light music to ease my mind.
•Is there a musical instrument you would like to learn to play? [Why? / Why not?]
I learned to play piano when I was in primary school. But due to heavy study burdens, I quit practicing after entering middle school. In the future, when I have more spare time, I will definitely pick up where I left off with this instrument and learn it again.
