There are many exciting activities, which I would like to try for the first time. I would like to do bungee jumping, paragliding, under-water walk and white water rafting, but I know these activities can only be done in special places. Here I would like to talk about one activity, which I would like to do, and fortunately it can be done in my hometown and that is to attend Zumba Fitness classes. My cousin attends Zumba classes in the UK, and she has become very fit. She used to be very fat, but now she has the body of a model. A gym in my neighbourhood, by the name of Fire Dance and Fitness studio has started Zumba classes. They have hired a certified Zumba instructor, who is giving training there. Zumba involves dance and aerobic movements performed to energetic music. The name “Zumba” has no particular meaning, it was chosen arbitrarily as a brand name.
I would like to join those classes and become fit. Each class is typically one hour long and one can burn 500-1000 calories in one class depending on the energy one puts into it. First I would enroll in Zumba Gold classes, which are for the beginners and the elderly. Then I would do the Zumba Step, which is for the lower body. I am very excited that such a facility has come in my hometown. I am looking forward to joining these classes. I find the routine gym exercises very boring. The best thing is that these exercises are not risky. So, this is the exciting and new activity I would like to try for the first time.

Well I guess everybody has heard about the story of Journey to the West. A monk named Xuanzang took three of his disciples to travel to the Western Regions to obtain Buddhist scriptures. They have suffered a lot on their way. Though the stories were made up, Xuanzang was a real figure in the history. He was a monk at Jingtu Temple in the early Tang Dynasty, which is about 1400 years from now. He felt that the Chinese translations of Buddhist scripture at that time were too poor, so he was determined to bring back the original Buddhist scriptures. He travelled a long distance to India. The journey took him a few years to complete. It was really a magnificent feat at that time. When Xuanzang finally arrived back in Chang’an, the emperor warmly welcomed him. The emperor provided money for his projects. A pagoda was built to store all the scriptures Xuanzang brought back from India. That pagoda is now the famous Big Wild Goose Pagoda located in Xi’an.
I think his story is quite inspiring. Also I feel I am so lucky to have been born in modern ages. Nowadays if I want to go to another country, I could take a plane. It only takes a day at most to go to any place in the world.

Talking about the enjoyable experience I had in the countryside, I think the childhood experience that I went to my grandparents’ house which is located in a small village in the north of China is a one. I remembered that my mother would take me to visit my grandparents every few years and the visit usually happened in summer holidays. The house had a big yard. And there was a brook behind the house. My grandparents kept two dogs in the big yard. They are adorable. My grandma planted two apple trees. The green apples were always on the tree when I went there every summer. I always begged my grandma to pick them for me to have a taste even if she told me that they would taste badly. I often dropped the apple after one bite. But my grandma was never angry with that. After supper, my grandpa took me to the brook behind the house. He said we could catch a big fish before the moon came out. However, we didn’t catch any fish at all.
The experiences were valuable and wonderful. They are of great importance in my life. Especially after my grandparents passed away, I have no opportunity to go back to the village any more. The memories kept the temperature of my grandparents’ love, and I cherish them very much.
