　　1、Describe a family member who you are proud of.

　　I’m going to talk about my father because he has always been a good role model for me as I grow up. I’m very proud of him. He is hard working, patient and understanding. He also has a good sense of humor and seems to get on well with everybody. Though he is busy at work, he manages to make time for me. He never missed important moments of my life like the graduation ceremony. Though nowadays I study at a university far away from home and have less time with him, I enjoy the time I spend with him when I’m home.

　　Talking about the specific things that he does that makes me proud, well, I shall say I appreciate his way of education. I was a very curious kid. But he never got fed with my questions. He bought a lot of books for me. It’s because of him that I have formed the good habit of reading. Besides I think my father set a good example by working hard and having a positive outlook on life. He once told me that only fear can defeat life, but the only thing we need to fear is fear itself. It was difficult to understand at the very beginning; however, as time goes by that line has become my motto.

　　Talking about a family member that has important influence on me, the first one that came to my mind is my father. He is a lawyer. He is the most dependable and hardworking person I have ever known. He often leaves home early and comes back late. Though he is very busy, he always manages to make time for me. Family still comes first to him. To me he is a caring father. When I was a kid, he would watch cartoons with me. Whenever I was short of playmates, he would take the place. So I have a lot of fond memories of childhood.

　　I think the most important influence he has on me is his attitude toward learning. He did not take law as his major when he was in college. Instead his major was about agriculture cultivation. He learnt the courses all by himself and all together he spent seven years to pass the Judicial Examination. He failed many times but he did not quit. From his experience, I come to realize that it takes great effort to be successful. So every time I met difficulties, I would remind myself to carry on. I have no reason to give up. He really sets a good example for me.
