  1、

Part 2 Describe a physical activity you do.

I love to play badminton especially in the summer time. It is a game I really enjoy, so I play it whenever I can get a willing partner. It is a lot like tennis, but I can play badminton anywhere. I do not have to go to a tennis court to play and I can play in between classes without getting sweaty.

Badminton is played with rackets that look a lot like tennis rackets, but they are much more delicate. You should have a net, which sits high above the ground, and a ball that is called a birdie. The birdie has a small rubber half a ball on one end, and it fans out with feathers on the other to help it to fly. A badminton court has a net in the center that stretches from side to side. Each side of the net has a square that the team mates play in. It is ideal to play badminton with four people, but you can play one on one as well. You can also play without points or a net, but I do not think it is as much fun.

It is a game that takes a lot of energy so you get plenty of exercise playing badminton. The main reason I like the game is that everyone, man or woman, has an equal chance to compete. There are so many sports that require height or strength to be good; it is refreshing to play one that I have an equal opportunity to win. Maybe that is why I get very competitive and energetic when I play. I love the game; it is fun and rewarding, and I feel alive when playing.

  Part 3

What benefits do people derive from doing exercise?

Exercise stimulates various brain chemicals, which may leave you feeling happier and more relaxed than you were before you worked out. You will look better and feel better when you exercise regularly, which can boost your confidence and improve your self-esteem. Exercise even reduces feelings of depression and anxiety. Regular exercise can help you prevent or manage high blood pressure. Your cholesterol will benefit, too. Exercise delivers oxygen and nutrients to your tissues. In fact, regular exercise helps your entire cardiovascular system work more efficiently. Those who are physically active tend to be more productive, in better moods, and are typically sharper than those who don’t. It would also decrease the number of sick days that employees take off.

  2、

Part 2 Describe a leader who you admire.

Actually I seldom admired the celebrities, especially those so-called superstars, most of whom, in my opinion, became famous only through some fortune or factors beyond control. After being known to the public, some actors or actresses would indulge themselves in some worldly happiness, idling their time away and leaving negative influences on teenagers.

However, there is indeed one female leader that I really want to meet in person. Waris Dirie was born in a remote desert village in Somalia. Raped by her father's friend at the age of 4 and suffering from the most crucial female circumcision at the age of 5, her childhood was a totally mess. In order to escape from the arranged marriage at the age of 12, Waris Dirie walked across the desert and fled to the UK. After she had acquired a world-wide reputation as a super model as well as the movie actor, Waris began to devote all of her time and energy into various kinds of charity organizations as a representative and pioneer in order to protect the rights and freedom of all the female, helping to save a large amount of women from the multiple types of discrimination and assaults.

From my perspective, it is really hard for a vulnerable woman to fight against the arranged life span executed by a society that regards the male as its sovereign. What is more impressive and dauntless is that after acquiring a world-wide fame, she did not indulge herself like many other celebrities, rebelling the stereotyped traditions that may have existed for hundreds of years. She is a genuine leader of all the female.

  Part 3

What are the advantages and disadvantages of being a leader?

On the one hand, being a leader means that you will be known and recognized by more people, thus offering more resources, no matter personal relationships or materials, which could be of great benefits to us in money earning, problem solving and reputation spreading. Being a leader could also provide the person a sense of self-achievement and abundant confidence. However, on the other hand, when someone becomes a leader, he or she must enjoy such a reputation at the sacrifice of some certain issues, especially the private time, in order to lead the whole team or organization to improve work performances.

  3、

Part 2 Describe a course you would like to take when you have time.

Well, before talking about a course I want to learn if I have time, I want to share with you an experience of finishing a school project at first. As a student majoring in geology, a major that focuses on real practices, I went to the suburbs of Beijing with my classmates on a geological production practice for one month last summer. We were arranged in group of six to complete different tasks. Everyday, we had to set up at 6 o’clock in the morning and we also needed to analyze data as well as design the route for next day after we went back to our accommodation at night. On the last day of practice, we finally handed in a dissertation to the professor and showed our discoveries on projectors.

However, during the process, I gradually realized the importance of a specialized course named Application of Remote Sense, which was a course about the discovery of rock nature from a distant area. It had a strict requirement on our computer application skills, which I seldom paid attention to before. As a student majoring in Science, I do hope to utilize my knowledge into real life. However, traditional education only focuses attention on the cultivation of academic courses. When confronting problems in other areas, the information in our textbooks is not enough. What’s more, the pressure from contemporary employment market demands us to be comprehensive talents in order to cope with real working conditions.

  Part 3

Do you think teachers have a great influence on students’ studies?

From my perspective, whether a teacher have a great influence on students’ studies depend on both the knowledge and personal charms the teacher have. Generally, students should spend at least 8 hours at school, which means that they have great opportunities to get in touch with teachers and learn what teachers teach to them. From this point of view, teachers indeed exert great influence on students. However, for those students who have little interest in study or only have interest in one specialized area, they would not be influenced too much by teachers. Besides, we should not neglect the initiative of each students, sometimes they will acquire more on study under their self-study. For example, after entering university, it is our own motivation and initiative that determines how much knowledge we will obtain.

  4、

Part 2 Describe a time you got up extremely early.

Well that occasion happened during one of my school production practice. As a student majoring in geology, a major that focuses on real practices, I went to the suburbs of Beijing with my classmates on a geological production practice for one month last summer. We were arranged in group of six to complete different tasks. Actually, everyday, we had to set up at 6 o’clock in the morning in order to save enough time for climbing the mountain to observe the texture of local rocks, and we also needed to analyze data as well as design the route for next day after we went back to our accommodation at night. At first, I just could not stand early rising at every beginning, however, when the project passed nearly half, I found myself enjoying the moment that bathing the gentle sunshine at 6 or 7 o’clock. And finally, on the last day of practice, we handed in a dissertation to the professor and showed our discoveries on projectors. As a reward of our efforts, each group received a certain amount of bonus and even though maybe my group were not the best one, we did feel pleased about ourselves. Since the experience of getting up early in this project, I realized the importance of hard-working. In fact, as a college student, even though I am not interested in certain areas when I just attend to the school, I am forced to study or experience those stuff. However, out of my impatience or lack of motivation, I always take an easy attitude or even want to avoid those tasks. Compared with the leader of my group, I had a lower study efficiency and I do need to better equip myself through exerting more strict requirements on me.

  Part 3

Why sometimes people need to get up early?

There are many occasions under which people need to get up early. To name a few, firstly, if people are on a journey, it is quite possible for them to get up even at round four or five o’clock in the morning, in order to squeeze time for their packed schedule. Secondly, some people get up early in order to finish the assignments they have not finished yet, just like what students have done when they don’t finish their homework. What is more, people who need to go to hospital will also need to get up early in order to avoid waiting for a long time in the daytime.

  5、

Part 2 Describe a place near water.

Last summer, I went to Jiuzhaigou Valley, a scenic and historic area located in Sichuan Province with four of my friends. Actually we spent a long period completing a harsh geological production practice before this trip, therefore we did want to have a good relaxation through this journey. It took us twenty-six hours from Beijing to Chengdu, and another 10 hours to Jiuzhaigou by coach. Only when I reached this valley, did I understand why this place was so famous. Surrounded by splendid mountains and forests, we were amazed at the diversity of water colors: azure blue, yellow, pink blue, jade green and so forth. The water was so pure that even the rotten woods beneath could be seen easily. In order to reserve this precious memory, we took numerous photos in the gorgeous scenery of Jiuzhaigou and up until now, I could still remember this exciting trip.

As for the reason why I want to go on this trip again is because I really miss the beautiful mountains and forests in southern China and it is really precious for me to travel without demands of professional projects. I have already set up my plan to travel to Jiuzhaigou again after passing the IETLS examination, fully enjoying the amazing scenery and delicious food in Sichuan.

  Part 3

What kind of seaside activities that are suitable for children to participate?

Compared with adults, it is indeed a little more risky for children, especially those younger than 12 years old to participate in some seaside activities. But I do believe there is no necessity for parents to worry too much, since under careful attention and supervision, the security issue can still be guaranteed. Sports like swimming, beach volleyball and beach football are the activities children can conduct. Of course, certain security measures are needed such as the companion of an adult and the wearing of life jacket.
