Describe a foreign country you want to visit for the first time.
You should say:
which country it is
when you’d like to travel to this country
who you'd like to go with
and explain why you’d like to travel to this place.
It might sound crazy, but the foreign country I’d really like to visit is North Korea.
The idea struck me when I was in college. I was a debater back then, and I debated on numerous motions concerning this country such as: does North Korea have the right to develop nuclear technologies, or should the UN step into and interfere with the human right conditions in North Korea…et cetra. I made lots of arguments about those issues on both practical and principle level. I was confident about what I said till one day, when I was addressing the dictatorship and slavery problems in North Korea on the podium, I was challenged by a debater from the opposition bench. He said, and I quote: Sir, you spoke as if the people in North Korea live in oppression and desperately need democracy. What makes you think so, and what’ your source of information?
The question didn’t trouble me much in the debate, but it haunted me after that. The next day, I started to search for information about North Korea. To my surprise, I can’t find anything, except for rumors and anecdotes. This place is an absolute enigma. There’s no movie, no TV program, and no book that gives me access to the things going on in this mysterious land; and there’s no internet connecting its people to the rest of the world. I don’t mean to pass judgment, but this is just ridiculously incredible!
So, I want to go there to see things with my own eyes. I want to talk to people there and ask them how they feel about the kind of life they live now. I want to find out how a government can manage to brainwash its own people to such a degree that they give up freedom. And I hope that changes would take place in North Korea as soon as possible.
