如果你想来点新鲜的,自己又找不到素材,那么龚雪(Kristin老师)老师今天就给你原创一个新的植物素材,它就是芦荟,英文名Aloe.
I’d like to talk about aloe, a common plant in China. It has large, thick, fleshy leaves. It is frequently cultivated as ornamental plants in gardens as well as in pots. In my home, my mum planted 2 pots of aloe as decoration.
Aloe is used both internally and externally on humans, and is claimed to have some medicinal effects. For external usage, I remember when I was a kid; there was one time I got sunburnt after a long day walking under the sun. When I got home, my mum cut a piece of aloe and rubbed it on my skin. To my surprise, I felt my skin wasn’t as painful as before. It’s amazing. Besides, aloe can also be manufactured into medicine or food. For instance, I heard that aloe contains a special ingredient, which can be used as laxative. Components of Aloe have shown the possibility of inhibiting tumor growth in animal studies, but these effects have not been demonstrated clinically in humans.
Apart from that, many types of food use aloe as raw material, such as yogurt or drinks. Even more, it can be made into soap.
Now you can see why I like this plant so much.
