I visited Faro in September last year. I spent three weeks there. I went to Faro to attend a conference at a university nearby so I was there on business but I had some time to look around.
Most of the people I met in Faro were other teachers or education specialists who were at the same conference. However, I met a lot of local people, too, and I thought they were very friendly. I also saw a lot of tourists; they were mainly English and German tourists, I think.
In Faro, I saw a mixture of old and modern style buildings. The hotel I stayed in was quite new, less than one year old, I think. There were many expensive shops where the tourists could spend their money but there were also local markets which I found very interesting. I saw a lot of boats in the harbour, some were motor boats and some were sail boats.
I really enjoyed my visit to Faro because this was my first trip to Portugal. I had never been there before. The weather was fine, warm and sunny; the people were very nice; I stayed in a lovely hotel and the food was excellent. I would love to go back there, one day.
