I agree with the statement that eighteen year olds are not mature enough to vote. Firstly, most eighteen years olds are still students in high school or are in their first year of university. They have not been exposed to many real life situations and often are still supported by their parents. Their understanding of society is still underdeveloped and may have a skewed view on life. Second, eighteen year olds may not understand the voting process or the views of the candidates fully. Often times, young people are focused on studying and hanging out with their friends and the typical views of candidates focus on taxes, healthcare, foreign policy and so on, which are of little interest to eighteen year olds. They will not fully understand these issues and why voting for the correct politician is important.
