Music and art should be important components(成分，科目) of the school curriculum(课程) because they have many uses besides recreation. 音乐和艺术应该是学校课程重要的组成部分，因为除开娱乐的功能，它们还有更多其它的价值。
To study music is to study the basics. Through its study, students come into contact with(接触) other basic areas of the curriculum: math, science, social studies, languages, and physical education. 学习音乐，是一门基础学科的学习，通过音乐，学生会涉及到其它的基础学科教育领域，如数学、社会科学、语言和物理。
