在整个
时间控制(time management)，独立部分的托福口语(independent task )准备时间(preparation time)15秒，作答时间(response time)45秒，这对于很多口语基础比较薄弱的学生来讲根本就不够，往往是在读完题目后还在继续回味题目讲的是什么，7秒继续理解，时间瞬间过去，然后用剩下的8秒来构思答案，如果没有经过系统的训练，这8s往往是在想怎么开篇(topic sentence)。45s的作答时间属于边想边说，加之考试时的紧张情绪，答案质量可想而知。
15秒的准备时间到底该做什么，同学们都知道T+R1E1+R2E2(topic sentence+ reason1 example1+reason2 example2)的结构，这是我们的答题结构，也就是作答时间45秒所要表达的内容(response)，所以我们要的就是五个词，topic， reason1，example1，reason2，example2.
Topic，新托福口语独立题目有的需要你选一个你生活中熟悉的人事地物， 像具体类题目，(比如2013年3月24大陆考区的独立第一题Talk about a positive experience you recently had working with anotherperson. Explain why this experience was important to you.)这里的topic就是a positiveexperience，不要罗嗦，举个例子，就用一个词代表这个experience—TOEFL&; friend (Stella)，什么意思，我就想谈准备托福的经历，那就选定好了主题，一个词代表topic。还有的题目是抽象类题目，这也是从2012 年开始ETS一个明显出题趋势，比如教育类和建议策略类，(2012年9月20和9月22中国大陆及2012年4月27北美独立第一题What is the strength of your country education? Includereasons and examples to support your response.)明显抽象类题目，第一步就是化抽象为具体，但是这种题目的topic怎么用一个词来表达呢?What is the strength，可以是数学(Math)，或者计算机科学(Computer Science)或者同学们也可以说New Oriental 的TOEFL training 哈， 这样抽象题目照样也是一个词代表topic.
