(1)Usually a company sells one type of product. But the sales of it will stop to increase. So the company starts to diversify and sells more types of products.
(2)First, the company can use the existing technology. If the company already has the machines or technology to make the product, it can use them to create new products. For example, company that makes televisions may start to make computer monitors, because the technology for these two products is similar. With the monitors, they can have new customers.
(3)Another is to try to appeal to its existing customers with a new product. These customers might have other needs that the company could fulfill. For example, a company that sells skies may have a large customer base for winter sports, like skiing jackets. Thus, they might also buy the jackets.
