Socialization is the process by which individuals learn a world of meaning as the one and only way to view things and interpret their experiences. As individuals develop from infant to child to adult, they literally “learn their place”. Including the position involves receiving the necessary information and having opportunities to practice social roles. Networks of individuals and institutions act as agents of socialization that transmit all the knowledge individuals need to function as adults.
