I prefer not to carry the cellphone with me all the time. Though cellphones are multifunctional and can provide much convenience, they can also become dominant of our lives. If you look at the people on the streets, most ofthem are either looking at their cellphones or making phone calls. We cannot get our eyes off the cellphone screen when riding the buses, waiting in line or even crossing the roads. It has become a habit and a conditioned reflex. We are gradually becoming the slaves of this little machine. As a consequence, we pay less and less attention to the people around us. In a class reunion that I attended last week, everyone was playing with their phones instead of talking and sharing the stories with each other.
