第二题是选择性问题(Choice questions)，考生一般会需要从两个选项中做出选择：更喜欢A或是B，或是同意或不同意某个观点。
1. Prefer A or B (Some people prefer having meals at Chinese restaurants, but some others prefer American-style fast food like KFC and McDonald’s. Which do you prefer and explain why.)
2. Agree/disagree (Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: Television has been a benefit for humanity.)
举例：Some universities require first-year students to live in dormitories on campus. Others allow students to live off campus. Which policy do you think is better for first-year students and why? Include details and examples in your explanation.
新托福考试口语部分的第二题为考生提供的准备时间是15秒，回答时间最少45秒，最多一分钟，在如此短暂的准备时间里准备至少45秒的演讲内容，给考生带来了很大的压力。那么，如何准备才能更加充分地利用时间呢?以下是网翟少成老师为大家介绍时间管理的方法，如何成功地将15秒的准备时间拉长到30秒。
网翟少成老师建议考生在题目显示在屏幕上之后，快速地扫描题目，抓住关键词，然后直接开始自己的准备，忽视电脑播放的慢速录音。
此外，在口语考试的15秒准备时间开始之前，会出现一句提示：“Begin to prepare your response after the beep.” 考生也可以一并忽视这个过程。在看到题目之后到要求答题开始之前的时间，网翟少成老师建议考生全部用来进行自己演讲的准备，Keep preparing until you hear “Begin speaking after the beep”. 通过这种方式，考生可以有效延长自己的准备时间，使自己的演讲内容更加丰富。

l Your answer should be as SPECIFIC as possible. You need to stick to a point UNTIL you finish it, have done with it, and need never return to it again.
l The key to score high is to make each point WELL-DEVELOPED, and that DOES NOT mean you need to make as many points as you can, two would be great.
l Truth and REASONABLE LIES are totally acceptable.
l DO Not say “I have three (or whatever) reasons to support my idea”, or something like that after you state your opinion. There is no guarantee that you are able to finish your answer within 45 seconds. Instead, you can say “I have a couple of reasons to say.”
上述建议与第一题的十分相似。但不同的地方是，第二题将考生的答案限制在一个或是两个选择中。网翟少成老师讲解到，在这个部分中，新托福考试考察的是考生“自圆其说”的能力，考生可以做出任何选择。只要考生保证能够说服考官，甚至可以同时赞同两个观点。
下面是几个关于第二题回答方式的建议：
l Your choice is limited to one of two ideas, possibly a combination of both.
l You need to use comparative language (i.e. better, more convenient, etc.), whereas in question No. 1, you used superlative language (i.e. best, most convenient, etc.)
l You have an easy way to support your choice with two main ideas---the first one is the main reason you made your choice, and the second one can be a reason why you don’t like the other choice.
