Task 1: Describe a person you want to learn more about, explain why you want to know more about this person in details.

  Sample

The person I’d like to learn more about is my teacher Tony for the following reasons. First, it seems to me that he knows about everything. He can answer all of our questions, math, science, literature, you name it! I’d like to find out what kinds of books he reads so I can be as knowledgeable as him. Second, he’s the funniest guy I know. He’s always telling jokes in class. We never get bored because he gets our full attention. Lots of the stories he tells are from his life. I hope I can live an amazing life when I grow up, just like him.

Task 2: Do you agree or disagree with the statement that all children under the age of 16 should attend school. Explain you answer in details.

  Sample

I strongly believe schooling is a must for children under the age of sixteen for the following reasons. First, children of this age need adult supervision. They are not mature enough to distinguish between right and wrong. If they don’t go to school, they might hang out with the wrong crowd. Who knows what kind of trouble they will get themselves into. Second, home schooling can be unreliable. I don’t think all parents are capable of teaching children all the subjects they need to know about. Besides, it’s impossible for children to develop necessary social skills if they don’t go to school and work with other kids.

  Task 3

Reading: School will install 2 computers in the dorm lobby. Every student can only

use for ten minutes during the busy time.

  Listening: agree

Reason 1: If students forget to e-mail their professors, or they want to check

directions, they don’t need to go all the way back to their rooms to use

  computers.

Reason2: Some students use the computers in the dorm lobby to work on assignments

for a long time and keep other students waiting.

  Task 4

  Reading: assists--positive transfer

  Interfere--negative transfer

  Lecture:

Example1: When the professor learned piano, he was required to read the music score

while playing. So, later in high school, when he learned to type, he could

look at the screen while typing, and didn’t need to look down.

Example 2: When the professor learned stage acting, he was required to talk aloud

When he performed. After graduation, he wanted to be a movie actor.

He was always required to lower his voice while acting.

  Task 5

The woman and man are talking about having a great trip in Louis Town. One option is water fall. Another is natural museum.

  Task 6

In the lecture, the professor talked about two types of feather of loon birds.

The first one is contour feather which is the outer layer of the bird’s feather. It keeps the bird dry. The contour feather is packed tightly and oily, so it can keep water from getting in.

The second one is down feather which keeps the bird warm. It is dense and thick, and made of soft and fluffy material. So, it can keep the heat from running off.
