Task 1: Talk about a subject you enjoy studying, explain why you enjoy this subject in details.
Sample
The subject I enjoy learning the most is English. First, we do lots of fun activities in class. We are alway having class discussions, forming groups to create short conversations and act them out. I rarely get bored in my English class because our teach never fail to come up with new ideas that keep us interested and active. Second, English is the one subject that I’m really motivated to work hard on. If I speak good English, one day I’ll be able to go abroad to receive a better education, find a decent job, and live a good life.
Task 2: Some people enjoy doing indoor activities, others enjoy doing outdoor activities. Which do you prefer? Explain why.
Sample
I prefer to do indoor sports for the following reasons. First, working out indoors means I can exercise regardless of the weather. For example, I can have fun playing badminton with my friends, it doesn’t matter how hard it snows or rains outside. During summer days that are crazy hot, we can exercise without getting sun burnt indoors. Second, indoor activities are less intensive. That mean we don’t get injured that easily comparing to doing outdoor sports like skiing or snowboarding. Indoor sports like yoga are more soothing, or relaxing.
Task 3
Reading: The school will increase interviews in the creative writing program.
Reason1: It’s a good practice for expressive abilities
Reason2: It’s beneficial to evaluate work as a group
Listening: The woman disagrees.
Reason1: Being a good talker cannot guarantee good writing skills. A lot of writers are shy, and don’t like to talk a lot.
Reason2: It’s hard to tell a person’s group ability from a interview. For example, she used to join a group work in a writing class. No one in the group wanted to talk in the first place. Weeks later, they all involved in the discussion.
Task 4
Reading: Token Reward System-Reward kids with good behaviors and encourage them to behave well as before.
Listening: The professor uses himself as an example. He let kids with good behaviors play outside for fifteen minutes as a reward, but he found out some of them prefer to draw inside instead of playing outside. Then, he gave those kids wooden coins and let them collect those coins until Friday. When Friday came, they had enough coins to exchange for rewards, like computers, arts, or playing in the playground.
Task 5
Problem: The woman’s parents are going to visit her, but the hotels nearby have been booked.
Solution1: They can live in her small apartment off campus which is close to school. But she needs to sleep on sofa since her parents will sleep in her bedroom. It’s not comfortable, but it will be only a few days.
Solution2: She can book a hotel room which is 20 minutes drive from school. The environment is nice, and her parents will like it, but it’s far and she needs spend extra money on renting a car.
