Task 1: Nowadays, “quiet cars” can be found on trains, in which people are forbidden to use their cellphones and computers, or talk loudly. What is your opinion on this policy?
Sample
I think it’s a brilliant idea to have quiet cars or silent cars on trains. First, during long trips, some people like to rest or take a nap, others read books and collect their thoughts. Having someone sitting next to you who talks on their cellphone loudly is super annoying. If rules like these are reinforced, people who like a moment of peace can finally get what they what. Second, having these cars also means people who absolutely needs to make calls or type away on their keyboard can feel free to do so without being judged on “regular” or “cellphone-friendly” cars.
Task 2: Some people prefer to do indoor activities, other prefer to do outdoor activities. Which do you prefer? Explain your answer in details and examples.
Sample
I prefer to do indoor sports for the following reasons. First, working out indoors means I can exercise regardless of the weather. For example, I can have fun playing badminton with my friends, it doesn’t matter how hard it snows or rains outside. During summer days that are crazy hot, we can exercise without getting sun burnt indoors. Second, indoor activities are less intensive. That means we don’t get injured so easily compared to doing outdoor sports like skiing or snowboarding. Indoor sports like yoga are more soothing and relaxing.
Task 3
A history student proposes that the history department should hold monthly meetings so that students can get more information and it's also a good way to socialize.
The man disagrees with the proposal. First, he says if students want to get more info, they can go to the history dept website, or go to their office and ask the staf for it. Second, he thinks the meeting will be too serious to be a social activity. He prefers more relaxing activities, like ones with drinks and stuff.
Task 4
Animals benefit from human environment. For example, doves can be seen on campus buildings or on the ground. They think it's safe to raise their children here. Also students feed them with meat and vegetables, so it's also easy for them to get a big meal.
Task 5
The woman needs to choose a biology class but the deadline for choosing courses has passed.
The first solution is to take it next semester, but it's the woman's last semester and they won't be doing research next semester. The second solution is to pay 75 dollars to take it, but she doesn't have the money.
Task 6
The professor talks about the benefits of job rotation.
