Task 1: Which of the following groups would you like to join? Campus newspaper, hiking club or dorm improvement committee.
Sample
I would like to join the campus newspaper for the following reasons. First of all, I love writing. It gives me a chance to take a break from my busy life and collect my thoughts. Being part of the school newspaper means I can write things students really care about while having a good time myself. Second, Joining the campus newspaper means I will be writing for a larger, real life audience. Experience like this will help me finding a better job after I graduate. It is actually my dream to become a news reporter.
Task 2: Some people prefer to share a large house with other students, others prefer to live in a smaller apartment alone. Which one do you prefer? Explain why.
Sample
I prefer to live in a large house with others for the following reasons. First, sharing a house with three or four people is much more economical than living by myself. We can split the rent, utility and food cost. All of us can save a lot. We will carpool in the morning, do our part in saving the environment. Second, it’s fun living with a bunch of people. We can enjoy a few beers in the evening without going to a bar, or watch a movie together and talk about it after.

a. Even though the students can be careful, they may still spill sth on the books, which are very expensive and the books would be ruined

One is larger in size and another one smaller.
The large ants usually go out to collect the food and take it back to eat in the tree trunk. The leftovers will be scattered before the small ants would eat them, so that they don't have to go out looking for food. For the large ants it is also nice because after the small ants clean up everything, it ensures a clean environment which presents the bad bacteria to exist, so their chances of survival is also increased.
5. The woman needs to go to grocery store to buy food ingredients for her roommates to cook for the dinner party they are hosting tonight, but she just finds out there is a 10-minute long chemical review session.

a. Do thorough research, read reviews, opinions from different sources
i.e. When someone wants to buy a computer, he would do a lot of research online before making a safe decision
b. Stay loyal to a particular brand or company. If they have satisfactory experiences before, they would gain trust for the brand and make further purchases.
i.e. If a family just buys a new car that performs quite good and lasts for a long time, the next time they consider buy another one, they would stick to this brand since they expect a similar experience in the future.
