As for the figure of adults’ fictions, it, coming top with 45 million dollars in 2002, experienced a dramatic decrease of 15 million dollars from 2002 to 2006, bottoming at 30 million dollars, with a slight increase from 2003 to 2004.
By contrast, there was a striking increase in the sales of children’s books over the period. In 2002, it was 32 million dollars and ended up with 56 million dollars in 2006, which was almost twice of the sales volume of the other two kinds of books.
When it comes to the statistics of educational books, it witnessed considerable fluctuations from 2002 (25 million dollars) to 2006 (33 million dollars), which exceeded the figure of adults’ fictions in the end.
To sum up, children’s books and educational books are becoming increasingly popular while the popularity of adults’ fictions dropped.
