参考范文:Today, a problem in modern society is that an increasing number of people tend to make the purchase of unnecessary items or simply things beyond their means. I intend to analyze the major causes and feasible solutions of the phenomenon in my essay.
First of all, as a new form of commerce, e-business is partly responsible for the phenomenon. In the past, consumers had to pay by cash when they went shopping and a loan was not a common thing in when purchasing daily necessities. However, the rapid advancement of IT enables people to carry out transactions online and the simplicity of payment means that they often have no idea how large their debts are.
In addition, advertisements tend to cause unnecessary consumption. In order to promote the sales of products or services, commercials are full of vivid and dynamic imagery, stars, and romantic scenes, attracting potential consumers to make a purchase regardless of whether they need the product or not.
Another reason is that some people release their pressure through shopping. As we know, a large number of employees face heavy work-related pressure. In order to relax, many people, especially young ladies, often go shopping, regarding the items they buy as rewards for hard work. Unfortunately, the rush often leads to the purchase of useless things, such as clothes that they never actually wear.
In order to tackle the problem, effective measures should be taken. The government should enforce strict laws regarding censorship, controlling the number of ads and making them reliable. Meanwhile, consumers should be sensible and take part in other activities, such as playing sports to unwind and relieve tension.
In conclusion, the habit of irrational shopping is caused by the change in payment options, the influence of commercials and heavy pressure in modern life and I believe that the trend will be reversed if the government and individuals make joint efforts.
