TASK 2
Many customs and the traditional ways of behaviors are no longer relevant to the modern life and not worth keeping. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
The ever-changing pace of contemporary society has already imposed drastic influences on all walks of residential life, among which the preservation of conventions and customs are no exception. Some people claim that it is not compulsory to maintain those outdated traditions, which I am strongly against.
Certain amounts of social resources, namely governmental funds, labor force and research investments may be wasted if keeping protecting those impractical traditional behaviors. Clinging to conventions that are no longer valid, both the government and citizens need to spare an abundance of time and energy on relative cultivating deeds and spiritual teachings of those customs, which are seemingly of no use for the guidance of contemporary social life. Without clear planning or allocation, those invalid deeds may even trigger dissatisfaction among citizens.
The inheritance and popularization of national value and morality, however, should never be overlooked when taking the aforementioned issue into consideration. As the carrier of history and civilization generated in different periods of time, simply abandoning those conventions may result in the division of history or even lack of certain historical knowledge in the long run. When future siblings no longer understand the traditional values and morality that the older generation firmly adhere to, misunderstandings among different age groups may also arise.
What is more, under some adaptation in accordance of modern social circumstances, it is not impossible for those traditional habits and customs to be revitalized and renovated. What those conventions really weigh is not just confined to the mere behaviors and superficial forms, but the thoughts and ideology that unite the whole society. The mere change of manifestation pattern may also evoke a wider range of curiosity among the public, just like what has happened to the adaption of carved wooden printing pictures.
In conclusion, although some traditions have lost parts of their practical value, it is still hasty to give up them instantly.
