  Some people think having more TV channels is good because they will have more choices, while others think it is not good because programs' quality is lower. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

  A:更多的电视频道能够提供更多的收视选择;

  The prevalence of television media has already renovated the viewing experience of millions of audiences under fierce competitions among different TV channels. Some people claim that such a phenomenon undoubtedly contributes to the improvement of TV programs, which, from my own perspective, actually ignores the underlying flaws of this issue.

  What is unquestionable about the rationality of those positive opinions is that under the expansion of different TV channels, more innovative TV programs will be provided. Competitions within the media industry will serve as a strong stimulus for each channel to continuously propose new ideas and projects to satisfy the increasingly picky audiences. As beneficiaries of those competitions, audiences will get access to more renovated and creative contents while making their own selection among the huge pool of programs.

  Considering from a more comprehensive aspect, however, such competitions among different TV channels will also trigger improper strategies which only aim at attracting as many attentions as they can without taking the quality of programs into consideration. As a consequence, the design of many projects will be only oriented to please the public with mere claptraps whereas the essence of media, which is to deliver valuable knowledge and moral concepts to the public, has be abandoned.

  What is more, as far as I am concerned, the increase of TV channels also will exert great pressure on the manufacturing of each program. The expansion of channels will inevitably gives rise to the simultaneous augmentation of programs in order to fill cover all the empty timeslots, which in return will decrease the original time that should be invested on manufacturing each program. Hence the increase of channels will end up in the loss of concentration and quality.

  Even though it is hard to arrive at an absolute conclusion, I strongly believe that the wider prevalence of TV channels would just deteriorate the program value.
