Thetable compares changes in the number of international travellers in differentregions in the years 1990, 1995, 2000 and 2005.
Itis clear that the total number of international travellers increased over the15-year period. However, there is difference in these areas.
Accordingto the statistics, Europeans like travelling aboard the most, with the highestfigure in each year and reached a peak of around 400 million in the year 2005.By contrast, only 15.8 million people in Middle East would like to go abroad.Africa, Asia and the pacific, and Middle East experienced a similar increasing trendof international travel population from 1990 to 2005.
InAmerica, people showed a great willingness to travel aboard between 1990 and1995, from 80.5 to 112.5 million. Then, the data stayed constant at 115 millionmore or less. Likewise, Europe also experienced an evident increase from 1990to 1995, and afterwards, the growth rate of overseas travel population becameslow, remaining around 390 million in 1995 and reaching 400 million in 2005.

With the rapid urbanization of our society, treeseems more valuable than ever before. At the same time, a great number ofpeople support more greenery in open areas in towns and cities rather than morehousing buildings. I am of the opinion that this action has more benefits than drawbacks.
Trees are an importantpart of the urban environment and a citywith easy access to green spaces is more livable and attractive for most people. First of all, as we allknow, green plants can carry out photosynthesis, which not only absorb carbon dioxide, but also release oxygen. Therefore, the airquality in cities will be improved greatly. Secondly, people living in citieswith plenty of trees are less likely to sufferhealth problems caused by smog and fumes. This is extremely importantbecause today travelling by car has become a major means of travel in mostcities.
Housing guarantees people’s basicneed of accommodation. Today, many real estate developers overdevelop the open areas with the purpose of gaining huge profit. This will occupy the valuable and limited landresources. In addition, considering our almost saturated real estate industry and market, there is no more need tobuild more housing. In fact, many employers cannot afford to purchase a flatbecause of the high housing price. Therefore, comparedto housing building, trees seems more significant to our environment.
To sum up, I believe that planting more trees in open areas will bringfar more gains than losses.
