Word count: 177
Sample Answer
The bar chart illustrates the percentage of adultsusing the Internet on a daily basis between 2003 and 2006 in the Great Britainaccording to different ages.
The main users of the Internet were young adultsaged between 16 and 24 years old. In 2003 and 2004, they shared the samepercentage, at 80%. In 2005, this figure increased significantly to 100%, butdecreased slightly to 90% in the next year.
We can see from the chart that the entire groupexperienced an upward trend. In the group of 25 to 44 years old, the percentagegrew gradually from 50% to 80% between 2003 and 2006. There were similarincreases for the group 55 to 64 years old, rising from 30% in 2003 to 50% in2006. As for the other two groups, although the percentage had a marginalfluctuation, the overall trend went up obviously.
In summary, adults between 16 and 44 showed thegreat need of Internet, but their percentage declined with time. And Internet gaineda growing number of users regardless of their ages.

It is true that manyleaders and senior executives inglobal companies are elderly people. However, I would argue that those superb young people are also eligible to take important positions in today’s world.
On the one hand, compared to the young generation, elderly people possess more edges.First and foremost, they have better cognitiveskills, such as big-picture thinking and long-term vision. This is because years of work experience andfailures teach them to take every aspect into consideration before makingimportant decisions. By contrast, due to alack of social experience, young leaders seem to make shortsighted decisions sometimes. Moreover, since the old havealready overcome countless difficultiesand challenges prior, they can quickly adjusttheir mood in turmoil and lift themorale of the whole organisation.
On the other hand, thereare two reasons why younger directors are also competent to be leaders inimportant positions. In the first place, with well-educated backgrounds, young leaders are more likely to have adeep understanding of cultural difference, and they can empathize with other employees and clients much better. Today, empathyplays a key role in retention of talents. For example, it is easy tomisunderstand others in a cross-cultural dialogue. When good employees resign, they might take the company’s knowledge with them, which is a brain drain forthe company. Secondly, compared with the senior leaders, young directors canapply the latest technology and theory into practice, and this can counteract negative stereotype ofmanagement and greatly improve theproductivity.
In conclusion, in myopinion, age should not be the criterion when selecting the leader of acompany. Anyone who has the leadershipcan play his or her role in the organization.
