The reading and listening discuss about strategies to stop the vanishing of gopher tortoises. The reading passage mentions three ways to stop the disappearing of gopher tortoises. Whereas, the professor totally refutes the three points presented in the passage.
Firstly, the professor rebuts the reading’s idea that by preserving habitats of palm forests, gopher tortoises can have more food supplies. The professor claims that fires frequently happen in their habitats, thus causing a lot of trees and grass cleaned out. As a result, the tortoises do not have enough grass to eat.

Secondly, the professor contradicts reading’s second method of raising the gopher tortoises in research center and then releasing them. The professor mentions that this way can bring terrible consequences. The gopher tortoises might suffer certain disease that can only be treated in the research center, and also cause negative effect to wild tortoises.
At last, the passage states that people can protect them by migrating gopher tortoises to areas suitable but without other tortoises. However, the professor explains that tortoises have homing instinct that leads them to return to original habitats. In other cases, gopher tortoises will return if they cannot get the places chosen for them. In their way back, they may come across dangers like busy roads and even be killed.

There has been much discussion revolving around the issue of whether it is more important for schools to fund their students’ meals. I think it is depended on the perspective you view it.
Students’ social activities play an important role in the daily life of students. In other words, students’ social activities give students al lot of experience and skills which they can’t learn from curriculum. First of all. The social activities is a approach and medium for students to practice what they have learned from books. In the class, the students can only memorize the theory of many processes and have no chance to be proficient in the field. So, the social activities is the best way to make it. In addition, working in the society is a fact of life so that it is vital to adapt the environment where they will work at advance. If you have known the society, you will be more competitive than the others.
That may be true to a certain extent, but we also have to consider the importance of improving students; meals. In the first place, the health is the most important thing for someone to do everything . If you are ill, you will not allowed to so whatever you want such as having a class, reading books, etc. Further, the health is associated with the efficiency, this point can be confirmed by the example of the students in campus must be faced with the peer pressure. As a result, it force the students to own an efficient study in order to overcome it, that is to say, improving students meals is a necessary fund for schools.
On the basis of the above discussion, I think it is not completely accurate to simply say that it’s more important fo schools to fund students’ social activities than to improve student’ meals.
