Task 1 柱状图
The first bar chart below shows the number of people per square kilometer in six different countries in 2003. The second bar chart shows how the percentage of urban population changed from 2003 to 2005 in these countries.

The first bar chart compares the number of people per square kilometer in six countries in the year of 2003. Among these countries, Japan was the most densely populated country, with approximately 240 people in a square kilometer. The density of population in Italy and the United Kingdom were smaller than that in Japan, which were about 280 and 199 people per square kilometer. Sweden was a country with fewer people. Only 20 people lived in each square kilometer on average. The least densely populated countries were Australia and Canada, accommodating 5 people in one square kilometer.
The second bar chart provides some information about how the percentage of urban population changed during the period between 2003 and 2005. The urban population Australia, Canada and Japan grew markedly over this period, at 1.4 percent, 1.25 percent and 1.1 percent respectively. However, Italy and the United Kingdom experienced a slower increase in terms of the percentage of city dwellers. It is interesting to note that the Sweden was the only city whose percentage of urban population dropped from 2003 to 2005.
Overall, the least dense countries in 2003, Australia and Canada, were the countries where the percentage of urban population rose the most significantly during the following two years.

The government has long been the major funder of university education. Some people think that the funding from the government should be offered to the best students as scholarship. My viewpoint is that the allocation of government funding should be various and a multifunctional funding pool should be established to support university education.
It is worth noting that government funding is the key to guaranteeing the completion of all students’ university education. There are numerous students, especially those from low-income families, who cannot afford educational expenses. For example, a student who wants to study law or medical science may spend many years in the university, which causes a great economic burden to them. Because of financial constraints, people in low economic status are at a disadvantage in terms of educational opportunities and career development. Therefore, it is necessary that government funding can act as a multifunctional one to cover these students’ tuition fees.
In addition, the use of funding for universities ought to be various and diverse, and hereby an open funding pool for universities is quite necessary. Apparently, it is not a rational structure of funding sources that majority of funding come from the government, student fees and private organizations. Other channels for funding sources such as donations from individuals and companies need establishing.
However, it is still undeniable that using government funding as scholarships to inspire students who really work hard and well is reasonable and acceptable. The encouragement from universities and governments helps to stimulate student to achieve their study goals and land a good job in the future. Nonetheless, compared with offering scholarships for few students, students’aid aiming at providing fair educational opportunities to students is more necessary.
To summarize, of many funding sources, government funding is the most indispensable one, the function of which ought to be maximized, covering scholarships, students’ aid, and so forth. Simultaneously, a diversified and sufficient funding pool is regarded as a prerequisite supporting multi-functional funding for universities.
