175. Some students like classes where teachers lecture (do all of the talking) in class. Other students prefer classes where the students do some of the talking. Which type of class do you prefer? Give specific reasons and details to support your choice.
It is undeniable that a good teacher plays a very essential role in the process of the students learning. We often told that teachers should do all of the talking in the class, or some people fear that they will lose some great value in such limited class. Personally, however, I disagree with this view. It is my firm belief that a successful class should be cooperated by both teachers and students. Needless to say, it does have values to let students do some talking in the class.
It is a good opportunity for students, when they are taking in the class, to communicate with each other more, share opinions, even create new ideas. Take a concrete example. Last year, our research, which is about the tendency of economic development in small cities, won the first prize in the Tiao Zhan Cup competition, held in the whole nation. To our delight, the idea about this research was put forward in the discussion in our business management class.
It is also noticed that talking in the class not only help students impress what they have learned, but also help teachers find what they still need interpret to students, and corecct the mistakes. For example, in our English class, my teacher, in the first minutes, often teach us some new words, and then let us practice in the rest of the class. We all feel it is very easy and happy to learn English in this way.
Moreover, doing some talking in the class can help the students, when they are talking in front of many people, overcome shyness, lessen the tensions, and eliminate the bad habits. The importance of this point is inevitable, especially when we go to work in future.
Not, after all, that there is such absolutely perfect thing in the word. Allowing students do some talking also has some disadvantages. Sometimes it will take too much time that might disorder the teacher’s schedule. Sometimes the things that students talked might not relevant to the topic.
However, fortunately, the advantages are more obvious. With no doubt, talking in the class will help students communicate with each other more, share opinions, create new ideas, and cultivate an appreciate taking behavior.
