  Sample answer:

The reading and listening materials have a conflict of opinions about the sinking of Mary Rose war ship. The writer puts forwards three reasons, which are contradicted by the following lecture.

Firstly, the writer claims that the gunspot was not closed after getting fire, but they forgot to close it. Water poured in to gunspot, while the speaker views this issue from an opposite angle. According to him/her, according to a research, there were still some connonballs in the gunspot, which proved that it cannot be opened.

Secondly, the author states that sailors dislike the captain and do not follow his lead.. However, the speaker opposes the writer’s opinion by saying that Mary rose is flag ship. Sailors are all capable, so they will not fail to follow the captain’s lead under such dangerous situation.

Thirdly, the passage argues that French made significant damage to the ship.. By contrast, in accordance with the speaker, the reading’s claim doesn’t hold water,Frenchmen told a lie in order to show that hey were powerful than English..

In conclusion, the professor clearly identifies the weakness in the reading passage and convincingly shows these reasons are incorrect.

独立写作:Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is better to finish a project completely then to do another job than to do two or more projects at the same time.

Nowadays, the intensive competition urges people to devote most of their time to the job. In order to save time, some people would prefer to do several projects at a time. However, it is by no means a reasonable arrangement.

First, high efficiency of work largely depends on the focus of attention. According to a research conducted by a prestigious university, when more focused, people’s minds will quickly produce a special substance, which stimulates thinking power. Under this circumstance, more remarkable outcomes will be produced. On the contrary, People, engaging in different jobs, are more likely to get distracted. Not only will it adversely affected the working pace as a whole, but it also lower the quality of these projects. Let’s assume a person who just totally immersed in one project about various data. However, in the halfway, he/she began to do another project, which was to sum up the problems of this quarterly budget. In this case, when he/she looked back on the previous job, he/she will, definitely, be confused by some figures. Thus, stopping one temporarily and changing to others causes unwanted consequences.

Second, finishing projects one by one enables people to improve the outstanding planning and organizing skills. On the one hand, everyone, undoubtedly, faces heavy workload, and It is neither possible nor realistic to focus on only one thing. Therefore, encountering some projects, people have to set priorities, which means working on the most significant problems first, solving them, and then going on to relatively secondary difficulties. On the other hand, what people also need to do is to formulate a timetable to constrain them. That is to say, people should require themselves to finish one project within the allotted time, and then move to the next step. Adopting this method several times, people’s planning and organizing skills will be significantly enhanced.

Thirdly, less stressful minds guarantee high work efficiency. Doing several jobs at a time impose overwhelming pressure on people so that they may become more worried and anxious. In this case, rarely will people concentrate on crucial details. As a saying goes, little things matter. Only when we give consideration to every necessary detail can we succeed. Take a scientific research as an example. If a scientist, because of unduly pressure, fails to focus on a tiny point, he/she may bring serious risks to this research.

All in all, It appears more effectively to do several jobs at a time, but it is not the case in reality. Focus is more necessary to every project.
