When students move to a new school, they sometimes face problems. How can schools help these students with their problems? Use specific reasons and examples to explain your answer.
When students move to a new school, they sometimes face problems. These problems may come from different aspects of the move. They will be unused to the new environment; they may have difficulty in catching up with the learning process; they may miss their old friends. In case of moving to a foreign school, they may experience culture shock and language difficulty. No matter what the problems are, the new school can usually play an important role in a student’s life.
Firstly, the school may provide a favorable and friendly environment for students. In a new school, everything is unfamiliar to students and they may feel uneasy. Therefore, if somebody meets them on their arrival, shows them around, and introduces the school to them, it will help students get familiar with the new environment. Besides, a welcome party is not only an opportunity for them to know more people, but also gives them a sign that they are cared about here.
Secondly, at the beginning of their study at the new school, the school may offer some special lectures for them. These lectures may help students understand the teaching approach, learning process, school rules, and campus culture. Instructions from teachers are also necessary, for in the students’ minds, teachers’ advice is usually valuable.
Thirdly, school activities help students to make new friends. If there are various activities on the campus in which the newcomers may take part, they will feel even their spare time is meaningful. In these activities, they can learn more about the school, and they may have more chances to make new friends. They can also develop and show their abilities in school activities, which in turn will improve their confidence. When they are confident in themselves and have friends there, they will no long be afraid of staying at the new school.
After all, school is the place where students spend most of their time. The sooner students get used to the new life there, the happier students will become and the better they can study. School’s role in a student’s new life is to help them achieve this.
