I think it’s a good idea for schools to require that students to evaluate their teachers. This informs teachers of how students react to teaching methods and to teachers as individuals. Teachers can consider the criticisms and change accordingly. Student support is also valuable. This can create valuable confidence in teachers.

Are they working as hard as they should? Is that why their teachers are sometimes sterm or critical? Thinking about these things can help students do better in class. At the very least, they will understand better what is expected of them.

一. 语言表达
1. This informs teachers of how students react to teaching methods and to teachers as individuals. 此句中包含了一个how引导的宾语从句。 第二个teachers和teaching methods 是并列的关系。 这里补充说明一下对于连接代词who, whom, whose, what, which和连接副词when, where, why, how引导的宾语从句来说,这类宾语从句中的主语和谓语的次序一定不能倒装,即必须用陈述语序。此外,它们在句中都充当一定的句子成分,不能省略。
2. The comments and criticism of education must all be serious and legitimate. 用词简练准确专业。
3. It keeps administrators informed about what’s happening in the school. 此句中keep somebody informed about what’s happening表示随时让某人知道,了解某事。Keep somebody informed 是个固定短语,相似短语还有 inform sb of / about sth, inform sb that …
4. Student evaluations of teachers also make students feel as if they have a voice in what happens in their schools. 此句中make sb feel 是固定短语,表示是某人觉得怎么样。 As if 后面的从句用陈述语气而没有用虚拟语气,是因为作者所表达的句子是真实的或机油可能发生或存在的事实。
