When people need to complain about a product or poor service, some prefer to complain in writing and others prefer to complain in person. Which way do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
In our daily lives, we often meet such problems as poor service or products of very poor quality, and sometimeswe need to complain about it. Some people prefer to complain in writing and others prefer to complain in person. It seems quite difficult to compare one to another because both of them have their advantages and disadvantages to the extent that is hard to distinguish.Yet that does not mean they are the same to me. To be frank, I would prefer to complain in writing. There are two reasons, as follows:
As we know, firstly, complaining in writing can make both sides discuss and solve the matter calmly and reasonably. When we get poor service or a dissatisfactory product in restaurants or shopping malls, usually we will become very angry. If we cannot control ourselves and complain to the waiter or manager directly at that very moment, we may use sharp words. That may lead to a quarrel and make things more troublesome [worse]. On the contrary, if we choose to complain in writing, we will win more respect and obtain better results. When we become calm and sit down to write, we will use comparatively reasonable words and describe the problem clearly. For example, in Wal-Mart, the world-famous supermarket, there is a specialized notebook for customers to write down their feelings, advice and compliments about their shopping experience. It is really a good way to solve any problems.
Secondly, in my opinion, to complain in writing is more efficient, emotional and powerful. Writing complaintsmay lead to the attention of the managers. If some day I go to a restaurant for dinner and the young waitress is impatient and impolite to me, I won’t directly complain to her because I don’t like to talk with an uneducated person. I will write to the chief manager directly, telling him about the unprofessional treatment/service and also write down my telephone number, informing them that I hope to get their feedback about this. I think the manager won’t neglect to attend to my complaint. If they do, I will send my complaintto some main magazine or newspaper to seek justice. That will be more influential.
There are still many other reasons that can account for my fondness of [putting complaints into writing, but the obvious ones have been presented as above. Writing a complaint has the advantages of organization, effectiveness, and fairness. When I need to complain about a product or poor service, I prefer to complain in writing.
满分要素剖析
一、语言表达
1、Writing a complaint has the advantages of organization, effectiveness, and fairness. 这句话用在文章的尾段非常有力。这句话总结了文章上文讨论的所有writing的优点,是一个非常好的总结和收束全文。本句美的不在外表,而在于其在文中最后一段的意义。
2、On the contrary, if we choose to complain in writing, we will win more respect and obtain better results.句子中On the contrary承接了上文,引出了一个对比的关系,这个词组我们应当记住。而且win respect这个搭配也非常好。
3、To be frank, I would prefer to complain in writing.
