YES if the statement reflects the claims of the writer
NO if the statement contradicts the claims of the writer
NOT GIVEN if it is impossible to say what the writer thinks about this
Q21. Opponents of smoking financed the UCSF study.
本题之事实信息为opponents of smoking以及the UCSF study,而逻辑信息为 financed,即文章会谈到opponents of smoking 和the UCSF study这两个细节,而要求判断的是“前者是否资助(financed)了后者”。
本题的原文如下:“A more recent study by researchers at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) has shown that second-hand cigarette smoke does more harm to non-smokers than to smokers. ” 和 “The American Medical Association represents about half of all US doctors and is a strong opponent of smoking.”
上述原文谈论到了事实信息,即opponents of smoking, (The American Medical Association represents about half of all US doctors and is a strong opponent of smoking)和the UCSF study (A more recent study by researchers at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) has shown that second-hand cigarette smoke does more harm to non-smokers than to smokers.)
TRUE if the statement agrees with the information
FALSE if the statement contradicts the information
NOT GIVEN if there is no information on this
Q17. Current thinking on humour has largely ignored Aristotle's view on the subject.
Aristotle's view on the subject,而需要判断的逻辑信息为 has largely ignored, 要求判断的是“前者是否很大程度上忽略了后者”。
文章中谈到“ most modern humour theorists have settled on some Aristotle's belief that ......”
TRUE if the statement agrees with the information
FALSE if the statement contradicts the information
NOT GIVEN if there is no information on this
Q22. Sediment in the irrigation canals on the Nile delta causes flooding.
Sediment in the irrigation canals on the Nile delta
Once north of Cairo, most of the Nile water is diverted into more than 10,000 kilometres of irrigation canals and only a small proportion reaches the sea directly through the rivers in the delta. The water in the irrigation canals is still or very slow-moving and thus cannot carry sediment, Stanley explains. The sediment sinks to the bottom of the canals and then is added to fields by farmers or pumped with the water into the four large freshwater lagoons that are located near the outer edges of the delta: So very little of it actually reaches the coastline to replace what is being washed away by the Mediterranean currents
所以原文提到了到sediment 和irrigation canals,考点逻辑信息causes the flooding 没有提到,所以答案选择NOT GIVEN!
