1 并列与嵌套
TOEFL阅读文章大量句子都不是简单句，尤其是经过ETS的修改。 有下列几种修改方法 1 先倒装，再省东西。
Eg:还记得这道TOEFL语法么，超级经典，
All marble is composed of crystals of the minerals calcite or dolomite, ( ), are perfectly white.
A when, pure which B when. Which pure C which, pure when D, which, when pure 答案选D。 状语从句的省略! 答案是先倒装， 再省略。 2从句套从句
Eg: what is particularly important is that although the materials available to a society may to some extent limit or influence what it can do artistically, the materials by no means determine what is done.
主语从句，表语从句， although的让步状语从句，宾语从句。一大堆，TWE写出这句子来也足够了。 3 倒装。
Eg: Individualism is weakly developed in folk cultures, as are social classes. As 后头倒装， TOEFL语法说过了吧 4强调句
Eg: It was not the originality of the ideal that made these satires popular. It was the manner of expression, the satiric method, that made them interesting and entertaining
2个强调句，注意that可能放在最后，详细去看新概念4 lesson 26 The past life of the earth，强调句的精髓都在那篇文章。
难句分析：
1. A good example of this is found in the kinetic molecular theory, in which gases are pictured as being made up of many small particles that are in constant motion
该句子后面是一个定语从句修饰 theory, 其中as是介词，后面跟一个词组的现在分词形势作介词宾语;最后又一个定语从句修饰particles.
2. Science is build with facts just as a house is built with bricks, but a collection of facts cannot be called science any more than a pile of bricks can be called a house.
这个句子超经典，背下来，首先just as做比喻，后面not……any more than 是指“像……一样不……”，而不是表示比较句
翻译：科学是由事实组成就像房子是由砖头建成，但是一大堆事实不能称之科学就像一大堆砖头不能称为房子。
延伸：
改词句为TWE作文。拿what are the most important qualities of your neighbors. 背景段可以这么写：
A community is built with residents just as a house is built with bricks, but a group of residents cannot be called a community any more than a pile of bricks can be called a house.
翻译：一个社区是由居民组成就像房子是由砖头建成，但一群居民不能称为社区就像一大堆砖头不能称为房子，
放在背景段，然后说居民要有什么什么样的品质才能一起和睦相处怎么怎么的。
