刘泽宇老师与很多同学聊过答题中出现的困惑，大部分学生会都有这样的问题，老师我在做题的时候能够比较轻松的排除掉两个选项，但是剩下两个选项，总是容易二选一选择错误的答案。那么这种情况应该如何改变，有没有办法去避免呢?今天刘老师通过举例来帮助大家如何更好地避免这种情况。

Paragraph 4: As he collected fossils from strata throughout England, Smith began to see that the fossils told a different story from the rocks. Particularly in the younger strata, the rocks were often so similar that he had trouble distinguishing the strata, but he never had trouble telling the fossils apart. While rock between two consistent strata might in one place be shale and in another sandstone, the fossils in that shale or sandstone were always the same. Some fossils endured through so many millions of years that they appear in many strata, but others occur only in a few strata, and a few species had their births and extinctions within one particular stratum. Fossils are thus identifying markers for particular periods in Earth's history.

很多学生这道题都会选错。通常都会选择C选项。而且再看了答案之后还是一脸懵，想不通这到底是为什么啊?
接下来，我们来看看C选项究竟错在哪里了。首先我们根据题干中的difficult......to distinguish rock strata 到第四段第二句话。我们可以看出原文中有一个转化，将difficult转化成了trouble。
首先来看一看这句话： Particularly in the younger strata, the rocks were often so similar that he had trouble distinguishing the strata.
翻译：尤其是在比较新的地层中(strata地层pl. Stratum地层原型)，石头长得都比较像，所以WS很难去区分这些岩石层。所以文章中说的是石头长得像所以难以区分岩石层。
我们来看看C选项是怎么说的：它们彼此的相似性使得WS难以区分不同的岩石。
首先这句话的关键点在于选项中的“their”指代的是谁?
我们想一下，如果这个选项是正确选项的话，那么一定是回答了题干的问题，那么这个their指代的就是题干中的rock strata。是不是和原文中表达的“石头长得像”不一样啊。
所以正确选项就是A选项，“不同的地层中的石头长得像彼此”。
所以以后遇到选项中出现如：they ;their ;it;these的时候就要注意了，看看这个代词指代的到底是什么，结合题干来进行翻译就能够看出其中的陷阱了，同学们你们掌握了吗?
