1. greasy spoon物美价廉的小饭馆去“greasy spoon”就餐比到“fancy restaurant”(高级饭店)就餐要划算得多。greasy油腻，spoon 调羹，也就是汤勺。把greasy 和 spoon 这两个词合在一起，就是指那些有点像夫妻老婆店那样的小饭馆。这些小饭馆，一般来说，菜谱上的花色品种并不多，碗筷也好像不那么干净，装潢也不讲究，但是菜的味道倒不错，价钱也很公道。
2. potluck百乐或百味餐一种美国人经常举办的聚餐方式，在一个人或者几个人的提议下举行一个午餐会或晚餐会，参加者每人各带一样菜或饭后甜品饮料。主人除为聚会提供场地以外，也只要准备一个菜或买一些饮料就行。

4. 关于荷包蛋。sunny side up 单面煎，over easy 两面煎有人要蛋黄老一点，有的要嫩一点，有的只要煎一面，有的两面都要煎一煎。你只要煎一面的蛋，可以说“I would like to have my eggs sunny side up.”Male:Miss, I’d like two fried eggs sunny side up and the sausage on the side.
