  Passage 1

  填空题:bright light(第一种鱼不喜光亮)

  Australia(第一种鱼也可以在澳洲找到)

  silver(第二种鱼是银色的)

  river mouth(第二种鱼可以在河口找到)

  Passage 2

  23. company

  24. agricultural

  25. police force

  26. railway

  Passage 3

  Summary Completion:

  high and low salary

  team

  flexibility

  debt

  Multiple Choice

  D

  A

  C

  C

  Task1 map

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.

The pictures below shows the differences of the layout of a conferencecenter between the present and its future plan.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

  Write at least 150 words.

  Word count:163

  Sample Answer

The two maps illustrate the layout of a city centre aswell as the expected changes in the future.

It is clear that fewer vehicles can be parked in the car park. However, there will be more space for entertainment.

In terms of the inner layout, conferees can enter the reception area through the door and there is a café next to it. According to the plan, the caféwill be replaced by the fitness centre in the plan. The original meeting rooms will be expanded from two to three and the initial grand hall will be divided into three areas, namely, a café, a kitchen and a hall.

There is a small path linking the west-east road tothe car park. But in the new plan, there will be no extra footpath anymore. Instead, two entrances will be built to the car park and this change is likely to enablepeople to walk straight into the parking lot. Finally, the garden will be doubled in size compared to the original one.

Research shows that overeating can be just as harmful as smoking. Thus, the advertising of certain food products should be banned, as cigarette is banned in many countries. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

  word count:256

It is sometimes argued that the advertisementis to blame for the excessive eating and prohibiting the advertisement is helpful for people’s health. Personally, I partly disagree with this view.

Imposing a ban on some certain food advertisements might improve the level of health to some extent. This is because most frequently shown adverts for food products are unhealthy, such as KFC and McDonald, which contain too much calorie, fat and salt. People who are exposed to such messages everyday tend to eat more than they need, especially those children who do not have self-restraint, and this can lead tomany health issues, such as childhood obesity. Therefore, a lack of regulation on advertising means companies are free to lure the next generation, which is harmful to the country’s future.

However, just banning certain advertisements will not completely discourage overeating. Most unhealthy food comes from local fast food restaurants, confectioneries and supermarkets that are equally responsible for obesity epidemic. It isbecause even though there is no advertisement on TV or in the radio, childrenare still likely to purchase the food stuff they like. In addition, the unavailability of fresh fruits and vegetables in the local community forces people, particularly those who have a busy life to overeat junk food and processed food. Finally, there are other factors leading to overeating, such as the poor eating habit and the unhealthy lifestyle.

In conclusion, the ban of certain advertisements might be an effective solution towards overeating. However, without the improvement of health awareness, it is hard to address this issue.
