Task1
Should school require its students to participate in 40-hour-long community work?.
Sample response:
In my opinion, aside from doing schoolwork and studying, students should also participate in various extra-curricular activities among which doing community work is a quite good choice. For example, the students in an international school in Shanghai are required to perform a certain number of hours of community volunteer work per semester, which is as well as a graduation requirement in this school. There are various community work for the students to choose, such as local animal shelter, charity stores, tutors and many others. By being involved in community work, the students have strengthened their sense of responsibility and interpersonal skills. Take a friend of mine as an example, he chose to work as a volunteer to teach people how to play table tennis at the recreation center on weekends. He is very popular there and has made many friends.

Do you agree or disagree the following statement? People should retire after 65.
Sample answer :
I think that would be good. Many 60-year-olds are still physically strong.
For people like civil servants, who have comfortable jobs or are in power, it is the later the better.
If our healthcare and children's education can be better guaranteed, I think I will still be able to work for five more years. But if the social security is inadequate, I will find it quite hard to work another five years. It depends on how the society can reduce the pressure that's on us.
Statistically, "actual dependency ratio"(实际赡养比)will be five to one in 2020. If China doesn't take itself to full employment, increase low-income people's earnings so that they can not only feed themselves but also elderly people, or push pack the retirement age. By 2020, we will become a seriously aged country. It will lead to a series of social problems and directly threaten our goal of having a prosperous society in 2020.
I think there are pros and cons. The positive side is that middle-aged and elderly professionals can continue to make contributions to society. The negative side is that young people may have difficulty finding jobs.In an aging society, the number of elderly people is growing. If we push back retirement by another five years, young people will have fewer and fewer opportunities.
Well, I agree that people should retire after 65 due to the following reasons.
First of all, age is irrelevant to a working life, people become old does not necessarily mean they are going to be sick. In fact, many old employees are still physically strong. So they can still work as well as before. Besides, in our aging society, in order to support more and more retired and old people,it is a tendency to require people to continue working for more years. Last but not least ,older employees have a great deal of knowledge and experience which can be a loss to a business or organization if they are made to retire earlier.
Task 3
Reading：学生写信建议扩大剧场增加剧场座位。
Reason1:很多学生想看表演经常买不到票;Reason2:学校可以卖更多票赚更多钱。
Listening：男生不同意该建议。
Because 1)：除了开幕式、闭幕式等大型活动，并没有很多人买票参加;2)扩建对于学校来说是一笔不小的投资，而且学校需要花钱来建设和维护这些座位，这项支出无法通过卖票快速补回。
Task 4
Reading：generalization of predator 动物通过观察和已了解的捕食者相近的习性来确定没见过的动物是否为捕食者。
Listening：教授举例：一群小鱼遇到了另外两群鱼，一群鱼是已知天敌的亲戚，因为它们发着同样的气味，这群小鱼感觉到了，就聚在一起不动防止被吃掉。而另一群鱼没有气味，这群小鱼无法判断其是否为它们的捕食者，就没有做出相应的应对措施。
Task5
Problem: 学生寒假准备去加州看望父母，但订错了机票，那天还有一场物理考试。
Solution 1：改签航班，但要多付150美元;
Solution 2：提前考试，但那天还有两门考试，压力太大。
Task6
讲了两种business data research
1.Quantities Research 举例汽车公司对一种车型的购买人群进行调查后发现，买该车的人都是没有小孩的，或者有孩子的人很少，为了弄清楚为什么有孩子的家庭不买该车型，接着采用了第二种调查方式。
2.opinion-based research: 通过采访别人对该车型的评价发现是由于该车的后备空间偏小，使得人们觉得小孩子坐上去会不舒服，所以有孩子的人不会考虑购买。
