Well I think a lot of things make China different from other countries. First, China boasts of such a long and uninterrupted history. As one of the Four Great Ancient Civilizations in the world, we enjoy time-tested and splendid cultural heritage. Second, compared with western countries, we have unique traditions and values, western people embrace individualism and are more direct in expressing their opinions, but Chinese people advocate collectivism and are more modest and indirect in dealing with relationships. For example, in the US, debating and public speech skills are quite common and highly valued, but in China, people tend to be more reserved in showing their opinion in public and feel uncomfortable and even offended if being confronted by others.

I think it’s way easier to teach university students than primary school students. First of all, primary school students don’t know proper classroom behavior rules, they might interrupt the teacher, walk around the classroom when they’re supposed to be sitting down, or even talk to each other really loudly. But a university professor rarely has to worry about keeping the classroom order while teaching. Also, university students are more motivated to learn, so they are more engaged and responsive to teachers’ teaching, because they know if they don’t work hard enough, they won’t be able to compete well and get a good job after graduation. Primary school students rarely care about these issues at all.

W2 Which would you choose: a higher pay job with long hours or an average pay job with normal work hours?
两种工作进行对比，其中一个选择是高薪但是需要工作更长时间，另一个则是收入普通、按常规的工作时长来工作。我们先来分析一下两种工作的特点：前者的优点是能够给从业者带来丰富的收入，但为此也要付出代价，选择这份工作需要付出更多的时间在工作上，就是需要加班。由此，我们可以想到，也意味着选择这份工作就没有太多的休息时间，压力会比较大，同时缺少陪伴家人的时间。后者，收入一般、普通工作时长的工作，也同样有利有弊：这份工作强度或许不大，但是也没有太大的经济回报。这道题实际上与如下题目非常类似：It is better to take a secure job with a low pay than to take a job with a high pay but is easy to lose. 在这道题目里面，直接描述出来了两类工作是“收入高、压力大”与“收入低、压力小”。我们可以把这次的考题在理解为“收入高、时间长从而压力大”和“收入低、时间短从而压力小”。

A high pay job or a comfort job? This is a question. Perhaps lots of people have a definition to a perfect job: decent pay, less workload and close to home, but does such a job really exist? We have to judge and weigh if we want to arrive at a rational conclusion the answer the question. In my opinion, what kind a job people should take depends on the specific situation of different people.
Young people, who are always energetic and ambition, should take the high pay job though with long working hours. For one thing, as for young adults wrestling with various bills in daily life, the high salary will help them to relieve their financial pressure and thus meet their basic need of life. To be specific, the extremely high price of house in China has been beyond the affordable range of most people. In order to pay the rents or afford a house, young people needs desperately a large sum of money which can be earned in a decent job. For another, longer work time is not a big deal for the young, because they are so energetic and vigorous that a sound sleep can help them to restore their vitality. A good case in point is the experience my friend, Andy. As a broker in an Stock Exchange Company in Beijing, he has to deal with large quantities of data and keep close track of any events which may cause the fluctuation of stock price. Although the heavy pressure brought by his job often require him to work overtime and even around the clock, he never makes complaints because the exciting and adventurous experience from selling or buying stocks appeals him a lot.
Though it is rational for young people to take a high pay job, we should take a second thought over this question when it comes to old people. After accumulating fortunes in the early years of life, old-age people do not suffer from huge financial pressure so that low income will not affect their life greatly. As we know, the old have owned their own houses and are not interested in pursuing the latest electronic devices or fashionable clothes, thus decreasing their living cost to a large extent. As a result, they can lead a relatively high-quality life without high wage. Also, older people are usually those who have got married or even have children, so spending more time accompanying their family members is of great significance. Undoubtedly, the job with normal work time can better satisfy the need of staying longer with their kids or spouse. During the stay, the emotional bond between them will become closer and more intimate.
Judging from what has been discussed above, the answer to the job question is that this issue should be based on a case-by-case analysis. In other words, different people would take different jobs considering their own condition.
