The reading and listening discuss about the possible explanations regarding to the reason of Eocene warming. The passage mentions three reasons to demonstrate this phenomenon. Whereas, the professor totally refutes the three causes presented in the passage.
Firstly, the professor rebuts the reading’s idea that Eocene warming is caused by the direction changing of the ocean current. The professor claims the process of ocean current’s changing its direction does not produce enough heat to cause Eocene warming.
Secondly, the professor contradicts reading’s statement that it is caused by comet struck, because megnetic partials are found. The professor mentions that Megnetic partials are released by kind bacteria.
At last, the passage states that methane results in Eocene warming. However, the professor explains that Methane can affect climate only through thousands of years. If the Eocene warming is caused by methane, then methane is supposed to appear thousands years before the phenomenon of Eocene warming. The fact is that methane and Eocene warming occur meanwhile.

同学们，看到这个题目，内心有木有一阵窃喜,老题呀!总体来说在行文构思上不难。老师又要强调一遍了，事实类题目的解题方式是(1)找原因;(2)拆分。
至于此题，想起现在媒体曝光的好多事件，以及我们自己在生活中亲身经历的cases, 我想大部分同学应该选择的是agree吧，哎，扶老爷爷事件让我们印象太深刻了。
不过选择Disagree也可以，只要同学们充分地展示出这个社会中人们warm-hearted的一面即可。

Nowadays, if asked whether we need to help a senior citizen when he/ she falls over, most of us will hesitate for a while, and then with an embarrassing smile, I’m sure, a majority of us will say that it depends. Yes! It depends! Such kind of answer would never appear in the past on the condition that similar investigation was conducted. Thus I gradually accept the fact that we are less friendly than those in the past.
Firstly, a dozen of people’s misbehaviors are factors contributing to this phenomenon. The first time I read a piece of news that a younger who helped an old man falling to the ground was imposed a fine, I was shocked. Then, from time to time when I search the Internet, such kinds of cases often jump into my view. So finally, unfortunately, I’m accustomed to the fact that helping strangers takes risks. Like me, lots of my friends have other experiences transforming his/her understanding to trust others. One example is my cousin’s. She suffered from obesity for several years, and thus when she noticed an advertisement on the internet which promised to cut down 20 pounds during one course of treatment, she was convinced. After ordering a supply of 3 months, which cost her almost 3000RMB, she could not wait to have a try. The result was this fraudulent weight loss product did not work, and even made her sick. Never are we unfamiliar with the above experiences, and thus there’s no wonder that an increasing number of people become less friendly.
Besides, the fact can be triggered by the fierce competition. The whole current atmosphere in China is rushing nonstop towards prosperity. The idea that career, money and promotion outweigh friends, family and even health is overwhelming. Then it’s unquestionable that our feelings towards others are numb. We are like a certain red-faced gentleman in The Little Prince who has never smelled a flower, has never looked at a star, and has never loved anyone but just added up figure. All day he says over and over “I’ m busy with matter of consequence!” The competition just makes us like working machine with less and less emotion. We tend to make friends based on what benefits they may bring to us, and we are inclined to refuse an acquaintance’s request because of tight schedule. Henry David Thoreau, a representative of Transcendentalism once warned us not to be slaved by money. Besides the proverb that money is a good servant, but a dangerous master tells the old same story. We are less friendly now, and the fault is mostly ourselves.
Admittedly, reports that people raise money to help victims after disasters, or some celebrities appeal to help Africans are numerous. However, the praised helping deeds are rare and the relationship between people now is definitely less pure and closer than that in the past.
In conclusion, I would like to reiterate my view that people in the past were friendlier.
