Topic 议题: 禁止外来物种进口和买卖法律
Sample answer:
In the lecture, the professor disagrees with the opinion in the reading passage that the recently issued law to forbid the import and selling of nonnative species is implausible, for he holds that the law is worthwhile to implement.
Firstly, the professor opposes reading’s idea that some pet owners will be forced to turn their pet over to the authorities, which is too merciless. He suggests that the owners’ pets don’t need to be forfeited. Only import and selling of nonnative species will be restricted.
Secondly, the professor disapproves the reading’s idea that the law is too expensive to implement for it will examine thousands of nonnative species in US. The professor points out that the money spent in carrying out the law is much fewer than that used to remove the negative impact of nonnative species.
Finally, in the reading passage, it suggests that it’s unreasonable to apply one same standard to all species and areas. For example, Brazil rabbits can not stand the cold weather in the north so they can’t breed, which indicates that they will not pose a threat to the local species. But the professor refutes that, even so, those animals may carry fatal virus which can be transmitted to other animals, resulting in the possible extinction of local animals.

Agree:
存钱以备不时之需;旅游是一时享受;存钱可以用以投资;旅游一次性挥霍掉;其实两者并会是非此即彼关系,钱存到一定程控可以去旅游。
词汇拓展:
buffer: 缓冲
substantial: 大量的
in desperate need of: 急需
catastrophic: 灾难性的;极其糟糕的
whimsical : 突发奇想的
mutually exclusive : 相互排斥的
accumulation: 积累
eliminate : 消除
范文指导:
Different people may have varied preferences regarding the way to deal with money. Some tend to spend the money on traveling and vacation. However, from my perspective, I would rather save money for future.
In the first place, keep savings can act as a buffer against unexpected cash needs. As the saying goes, “storms will break, fires will rage, and tragedies will descend.” Life is full of unexpected events, so spending all the money on traveling or vacation is irrational. For example, when we get ill and the medical expense is really substantial or we are in desperate need of some expensive things, it is very hopeless if we are short of money. Traveling is a temporary and short-term pleasure. We are no longer kids who can satisfy our whimsical burst of enthusiasm and need not to be responsible for the possible catastrophic results.
Secondly, the saved money can be used to invest, which can multiply the amount of money. Saving money doesn’t merely mean hiding it in a cabinet or depositing in a bank, today there being many options for people to manage their money, such as stock investment, fund investment, real estate and so on. The more money we invest, the more returns we get. However, if money is spent on traveling, we will have no capital to invest. Confronted with the choice between money and traveling, people will undoubtedly choose money which is more essential and indispensable part of life.
Finally, strictly speaking, saving money and traveling are not mutually exclusive. With certain degree of wealth accumulation, we can use some spare money to travel and have a wonderful vacation. When we have enough money deposited, we can start to consider have a traveling which does have its merits such as relaxing and entertaining. Many of our friends are of this type. They travel once a year within their financial abilities and plan carefully before the trip.
In my view, survival is the first priority. Saving money for a rainy day is more crucial than traveling and vacation. Besides, with appropriate investment, money breeds. What’s more, saving money doesn’t eliminate the choice of traveling, especially when money are accumulated to a certain degree.
