这道题考的词汇state字面意思很简单，常常我们背这个单词的时候会记住状态，国家的两层意思。所以答案C和D都算是它的近义词。所以我们只能从文章的上下文和作者态度进行判断了。State前面的动词是consecrate(使神圣，奉献于)的意思，文章大意为：为了避免反复无常----插入语解释修饰反复无常：比固执和瞎透的偏见还糟糕千万倍----我们致力于于这样的state，没有人可以随意的诟病他的缺陷和堕落。state 后面that 引导的从句是修饰这个state，当中出现了物主代词its, 指的是这个state 的缺陷和堕落，相对于答案C， Temporary condition (状态)，答案D, political entity (政体，指国家)带入会更合适。文章整体态度就是要坚持一种稳定的，世代流传不变的国家体制。故正确答案为D。

这道题考点：low的字面意思更简单，人人都认识。但是只有充分理解了上下文才能选出正确的答案。文章说国家体制绝不能被认为是无异于一些商业上的交易共识，譬如说胡椒粉，咖啡，棉布，烟草的交易合同，以及一些其他的low concern. 只有理解了作者对这些商业交易的合同的态度：是非常轻视的，相对于国家的体制建立来说：这些商业上的agreement可以因为暂时的利益被支持，可以因为政党的喜好被随意废除消失，然而国家体制却绝不能这样，一定要是一成不变的，不能被随意更改的。所以答案A)petty(琐碎的)为正确的答案。
例子3：

“sympathetic to” most nearly means
A) caring for (关心)
B) Agreeable with (和...保持一致)
C) Supportive of (支持，赞同)

这道题目考的是sympathetic to的同义替换，如果你只知道这个词的“同情”这一层意思的话，那么错误答案D就会选中，很容易得跳进出题者的坑。这里sympathetic指的是支持，赞同的意思，那么B和C貌似都能满足，文章是说，，布什总统也是赞同这个观点的。这里是说，针对某些观点，，卡特等是同一阵营的，所以supportive of 更加能体现作者的态度。故选D。
