本题选A。原因者何?试看before从句，谓语动词既为一般过去时态，又有before提示，即为“过去之前”，故主句谓语动词(A项)应为过去完成时态。这类题目不需解析句式，更不必解读语义，逻辑推理即可解题。
又例：

此题并不难。C项首先排除，因为SAT语法不考情态动词;第二步分析非谓语动词。句子以ing分词开首只有两种可能：若为动名词，则分句完整;若为现在分词，则分句缺成分。由此看来，本题属后者。既为现在分词，则与主语Portuguesekings发生逻辑上的主动关系，根据第一个分句语义可知A选项错误，应该为过去分词形式，表示被动。两步即可解题。
SAT语法部分共49道题目，限时35分钟，其中还要读一篇IP文章，对解题效率提出了高要求。考生若养成解读句式的解题习惯，解题时必然游刃有余。有例为证：

题干为主从复合句，其中嵌套非限制性定语从句。首先找出主句的主干：The writing sare familiar to students.又因为B为has continued，故D选项的时态和数均正确，排除。再找从句的主干：The writings has continued the discussion…主谓一致出现错误，故选B。C、D两项不再考察。
又例：
The question of whether certain chemical fertilizers are a curse or are they a blessing is still
being debated. No error
题干的主干为The question is still being debated. 由此可排除C、D。剩余部分有一个明显的平行结构A or B，A为名词a curse，B为倒装句are they a blessing，不符合平行原则，故选B，应将are they去掉。
SAT在数学方面对中国的学生而言是不难的，只要你读得懂题目就能作出来，虽然在写作方面是难题不过只要你好好学习英语还是能够考出高分的。
