Enterprise and Entrepreneurship
This module will enable students to gain a thorough understanding of the formation and organisation of media enterprises and entrepreneurial ventures. Supported by a programme of guest speakers from the digital media industry, students will gain insight in to current enterprise and entrepreneurial practice across a range of organisations within this sector. In addition, students will consider aspects of innovation and business formation, idea generation and research techniques to enable them to gain confidence in realising potential business ideas.

Strategic Digital Marketing
This module enables students to develop an understanding of strategic digital marketing planning and management skills and be able to apply these principles to a variety of organisations and clients. Students gain a thorough knowledge of different business models and the challenges of today’s turbulent digital marketing environment and its implications for future competitive performance. Understanding is developed through critique and analysis of how an organisation’s competitive environment can lead to the development of sound marketing objectives, strategies and tactics. Students develop the analytical skills necessary to generate and evaluate marketing strategies that offer sustainable competitive advantage and to be aware of social and legal responsibilities when developing a business.

Digital Media Management
This module aims to explore the nature of modern management within organisations and examine those roles and tasks with specific reference to the digital media industry. In completing the module, students will understand the nature of management practices within organisations within the digital media sector, how they operate across international markets and boundaries, and the impact of regulations and frameworks in their governance. In addition, students will consider the role of the manager, to bring together diverse projects and people to manage complex or time critical projects, and the importance of effective project management within this sector.

Design Thinking
The module introduces students into the three pillars of design thinking: desirability, viability, and feasibility, and how to take them into practice in creating new digital product and service concepts. Desirability refers to researching user needs, viability refers to commercial potential, and feasibility to assessing available technological solutions for the product or service. Students are encouraged to engage into a lean mindset, where iteration, lateral thinking, and agile methods of working produce results that are rapid yet informed by research data. Creating a digital product or service concept during the module through a number of iterations takes these methodologies into practice.

Digital Media Ecosystems
The module deepens the knowledge gained from the Design Thinking module by turning the focus into the broader contexts where digital products and services are produced, distributed, and consumed. It prepares the students to think about strategic questions from analyst and management perspectives. Students will learn what are the established methods used in the commercial sector to collect and analyse data, and how that informs business and creative decisions. As a synthesis, students will create a proposal for a business operating in the ecosystem. This will include documenting different value chains having to do with trends, target audiences, data collection, and technological platforms, according to the theories and methods introduced during the module.

To enable students to demonstrate the theoretical knowledge and understanding underpinning their current practice, and to disseminate their research in a variety of formats to broader audiences.

Digital and Mobile Technologies
In this module students will research current mobile design principles in order to design and develop an app for a mobile device. The module will consider current best practice, development frameworks and methodologies as well as encouraging novel and innovative media design. Students will explore the current market and devices and user interface/experience design principles, utilising current development platforms to build the app and conduct testing to ensure that it functions as intended.

Digital Innovation
This module aims to explore the nature of innovation in the digital media industry and market through the exploration of new technologies which enable change. During the module students will consider new and emerging technologies, tools and methods and the opportunities and challenges they bring to organisations. Students will explore the disruptive nature of digital technologies and emerging trends to create research informed solutions and prototypes. Students will consider how these new technologies, processes and approaches will impact organisations, as well as society and the economy.

Digital Media Management Project
This module aims to enable you to realise your creative ambition evidenced through the production of a substantial body of independent creative media work of industry standard. You will demonstrate the ability to bring together theoretical analysis, research and professional practice in a coherent, seamless whole. You will be expected to work to high degree of autonomy and to develop and extend skills, aptitudes and knowledge necessary for the furtherance of your creative practice. Throughout the duration of the module you will be shown how to apply a high level of skill and critical analysis which you will demonstrate through the realisation of your project. You will apply the requirements of professional practice in both independent and collaborative activities and be confident in applying these to further study and professional application in associated careers.
