The Adelaide Secondary School of English is the only government school that offers an intensive English language program for students newly arrived in Australia between the ages of twelve and eighteen.
The school caters for overseas full fee paying students who are enrolled through the DECD International Education Services, migrant or refugee students (who have been in Australia for less than twelve months); and eligible temporary students.
The school has specialist programs that prepare students for successful participation in mainstream high schools, further education and training.
The school offers a full range of curriculum subjects, namely Maths ,Science, ESL, Society and Environment, Health and Physical Education, Computing, Technical Studies, Home Economics and Art.
Bilingual Support
Our bilingual support offers assistance in the following languages: Mandarin, Cantonese, Thai, Persian / Farsi / Dari, Croatian, Arabic, Dinka, Swahili and Kirundi.
If a language is not listed arrangements can be made to have support available.
Quality English Programs
We pay close attention to the needs of the individual students by having small classes (average 15 students), offering different levels from Foundation to Advance II.
Professional Staff
Committed and highly skilled staff specialise in ESL. Multilingual administrative staff and a Student Counsellor are on hand to provide information and to help students with any problems which may arise.

An orientation programme provides students with information about studying and living in South Australia. It specifically gives information about key contact people within the school and school procedures. Students are taken on a tour of the school. The school's Discipline Policy and student's rights and responsibilities are explained Anti-racism and anti-harassment policies are explained. Grievance procedures are outlined.
