Braybrook College celebrated its 50th birthday in 2010, and anniversary celebrations took place on August 14th.
Many stories were shared as displays of College life spanning the decades were viewed by students, parents, and interested community members, past and present.
Official ceremonies, guest speakers, rekindled friendships and interactive entertainment were the highlights of the day. These celebrations were extraordinarily well supported by many people and their generous donation of memorabilia, time, photos, and recollections were essential in making the event such a success
You may purchase the Braybrook College 50th Anniversary Booklet for $10 through our General Office. This publication provides a snap shot of the contributions from students, parents and teachers over the past 50 years. For a full range of souvenir items, please visit the College General Office.
Our current population, of approximately 1100 students, enables a wide curriculum choice to be offered at all levels. We constantly strive to set high academic standards which enable students to move to their chosen career pathway.
As our students move into their VCE years we believe it is especially important that they have the security of being able to maintain contact with teachers they know well.
Our college is proud of its emphasis on providing individual help and support within a safe and caring environment.
There are six major feeder schools, five of which are in the immediate vicinity, although students are drawn from a wide area including Deer Park, Sunshine and St. Albans. Only one-third of students come from Braybrook or Maidstone and thirty-five schools are on the intake list. Approximately 65% of students are from a Language Background other than English. Of these the main group is Vietnamese. However, another 30% of the student population have backgrounds from approximately 40 different nationalities. We restrict our International Student numbers to approximately 35 in total, almost all are from Vietnam. This has been a significant achievement for our college and reflects the growing confidence of overseas fee-paying students in our programs and of course our international reputation.
