Humphrey's Way, Rowville Victoria, 3178
Rowville Secondary College opened in 1990 with approximately 180 students in years 7 and 8. The student population has now grown to over 1800 across two campuses. The Western Campus, which opened in 1990, caters for students in years 7 to 12. The Eastern Campus opened in 1996 and caters for year 7 to 11 students.
Although the College is located on two campuses, Rowville Secondary College is one school. Curriculum, policies programs, uniforms and rules are the same on both campuses and staff take consistent approaches in dealing with students. Teachers from both campuses meet together, and all curriculum planning meetings are held as one school. All College committees, including School Council, have representation from each campus so that all decisions and College directions represent the views of staff, students and parents in the College as a whole.
Although the total enrolment is large, student intake at each campus is smaller than many of our neighbouring schools. Our class sizes are kept to a maximum of 26 with some classes often smaller than this figure.
Students at each campus are provided with opportunities to take part in all College activities such as instrumental music, sport, outdoor education and other extracurricular activities.
Teachers are based on one of the campuses for the school year, but are encouraged to move between campuses every few years to ensure consistency in all areas of College operation.
Rowville Secondary College is a College that aims to provide a quality education to all its students. Our mission is to equip each student with the skills needed to successfully live and work in Australian society. Positive attitudes to learning leading to excellence in outcomes will come from vibrant, challenging and exciting programs.
The College staff work closely with parents and the community to ensure that these goals are achieved.
At Rowville Secondary College, resource and facilities development is a priority. Over the years we have seen the development of a Senior Study Centre and indoor heated swimming pool.
The College is also home to a state of the art Performing Arts Centre which hosts a 500 capacity rising seating plan and exceptional facilities. The PAC is designed to showcase the diverse performances hosted by the college and wider community.
Next door to the PAC is our dance studio, equipped with floor to ceiling mirrors and also of use to students and the community.
In addition to the PAC we are also proud owners of a health and fitness centre and a full-sized synthetic soccer pitch both of which are made available to those within and outside the school.
All of these developments are in addition to fantastic grounds and many other facilities including well resourced libraries and state of the art computers.
