Wiley Park Girls' High School is a multicultural secondary school providing girls with quality education. The culture of the school is one of cooperative learning involving a partnership between the student, the teacher and the family. The school is committed to: creating opportunities for all students to achieve their potential; providing equal opportunity to achieve quality educational outcomes; providing choice and diversity in educational programs; educating in a safe and caring environment; developing self-discipline and independence; valuing students' cultural backgrounds; providing all students with the opportunity to be literate, numerate and employable when they leave school.
Student Use of mobile phones, MP3s and similar mobile electronic devices.
There is a range of technology available today including mobile telephones, pagers, digital cameras, portable CD and MP3 players/iPods, personal digital assistants and other similar devices. All of these have the potential to be incorporated appropriately into lessons, opening exciting new approaches to learning. When these technologies are misused by students they can be very disruptive to teaching and learning and in some cases cause harm.
Wiley Park Girls High School acknowledges that students may need to be in possession of a mobile telephone at school for reasons relating to their safety in travelling to and from school.
School Uniform Policy
All girls are expected to wear school uniform every day, this means at school and to and from school.
They are to wear full uniform on all occasions when representing the school or on school activities.
Anti-Bullying Policy
Every person at Wiley Park Girls High School has the right to experience positive and respectful relationships between all members of the school community. They also have the right to learn and teach in a happy and safe environment. Bullying behaviour is not acceptable at Wiley Park Girls High School.
Assisting Parents with Bullying
In conjunction with our anti-bullying policy we have developed a companion document for parents and carers to assist in dealing with the effects of school bullying on students at home. It informs parents and carers, in 8 steps, of their rights and responsibilities in dealing with possible instances of school bullying.
Homework Policy
The purpose of homework is to enhance student learning. Homework bridges the gap between learning at school and learning at home. It reinforces work done in class and helps to develop skills such as research and time management.
Homework helps establish the habits of study, concentration and self discipline. It provides training for students in planning and organising time and develops a range of skills in identifying and using information resources.
Parents/caregivers have the opportunity to see the progress of their child. Homework provides challenges and stimulus to gifted and talented children.
